Lately I have been feeling a little bummed. Things weren’t going the way I had planned and my energy level was going down. My coach said something to me that is very profound. He suggested that I recommit each day to my goals. Literally every morning get up and say wow I am really lucky to be alive and I am going to have an amazing day. The science behind this is that your internal dialogue really impacts your outer person. If you say negative things to yourself, negative results come your way. If you say positive things to yourself, well you get the message. So I say to you, Wow you are really lucky to be alive have an amazing day

Do you ever have that feeling that you just wish you could win the lottery so you could stay in bed and not have to face the world each day? I am always pushing myself to achieve more, do better, reach my goals, push my children, build my business, and take care of all the details. There are times though where it would be nice to just forget about it all and move to an island in the Caribbean and step off the treadmill.

So how do I handle it? I get up out of bed and take a shower and get myself moving. Once I do I am fine. I decided a long time ago that I wanted a life of achievement and that is always going to be what I will work towards. It is who I am. So I keep reading books to motivate me, I work with my coach to keep me accountable, and I keep getting out of bed and getting myself started. Knowing where I want to go keeps me on the path. Perhaps that will help you too.

I have blogged before about shopping your closet. So many times we get into a rut with wearing the same outfits over and over again. Why not try something new? It also helps to have a friend or two help you with this. Maybe one night you can pour a glass of wine for you and your friend and go into your closet and start pulling out your favorite pieces. Also look at things you may not have worn in a while or maybe never worn and start playing around with them. Try on different combos and put on different accessories with them. A scarf at the neck can make a new look out of an old standby outfit. Having a full length mirror helps. You might decide to shorten a skirt or take up the hem on a pant so you can wear it with flats instead of a heel. These are great ways to keep your look fresh and not have to spend any money.

Einstein said compound interest was one of the wonders of the world. Because saving money and earning money on the interest you make builds a pile of cash. Well the same thing happens in everything you do. When you take consistent action on your goals you are building something. You start a momentum that almost runs itself.

As a person who runs a business I have found that each specific sales call may not produce a result but the continued action of making many calls builds on itself until I have created an active volume of business.

The authors of Chicken Soup of the Soul had a lot of trouble getting their book published. They decided that they would take 5 actions everyday to market their book. They created such a momentum that their books are now some of the most sold books in the world.

Many actors and actresses have joked that people have called them overnight successes. But in reality they went on hundreds of auditions for years before they became “overnight successes“. What you find is that you need to do a lot of work in the beginning that you may not necessarily see results for. But the continued activity builds on itself till it finally all comes together arid you find that you have in fact become successful.

So the moral of this blog is take constant action to build momentum and you will find yourself reaching your goals without fail.

Have you ever seen someone whose pants are dragging the floor, or the pockets on their jeans pull, or maybe the sleeves of their jackets are too short? It kind of ruins the look doesn’t it. You don’t really have to spend a lot of money on clothing. But making it fit well can have you looking like a million bucks.

When you are shopping try bringing someone with you who you think has good taste (maybe a friend or relative). They can help you look at the clothing you try on with a critical eye. If you try something on that has potential it might just need a nip or tuck or hem from a good seamstress to make the item look fabulous.

Find a tailor you think is talented and take advantage of using them. When you buy your clothes it is better to buy it to fit the biggest part of your body and than you can take in the parts of the item where you are smaller. Most people do not have fit model measurements so this is a perfect way to get around it.

Having well fitting clothes will really up your fashion quotient.

I am not a teenage or even in my 30′s for that matter. Sometimes I think I wasted time. If I started losing weight sooner I would be thin now. If I started saving money earlier I could be rich by this time. Sometimes I think I wasted a lot of time and could be at my goals by now if I didn’t wait. But, guess what? The journey is the point even more than the result. Learning what I needed to learn to get to this point was so important and valuable. Whatever I didn’t accomplish yet I wasn’t ready for. Yet I have accomplished a lot and should appreciate all I have done so far.

The great thing in life is it is never to late to start working on your goals even if they have been on your list forever and you think you should have accomplished them by now. So 3 things to look at when you have the same goal for a long time but haven’t yet acheived it.

1. Is it really that important to you. I decided to delete learning French a while ago. I may put it back on my list but right now it is just a goal that keeps fustrating me because I do not do anything to acheive it.
2. Have you made any movement towards your goals. I wanted to loose 50 lbs. I really feel as I should have done this by now. However I have lost 20 of those pounds. So I really should celebrate what I have accomplished so far.
3. Is it too late to start your goal. Now it is never too late to start. Look at Ray Croc, he was 53 when he bought McDonald’s and turned it into a phenomenon.

So remember it is never too late to do anything, Go back to school, start a business, buy a house, whatever your dream is go for it.

Have you ever felt that way? Ha Ha! Of course you have. Who hasn’t? I read a lot of books on how to be productive and I am always learning new ways to be more efficient and get more things done. The following are some of the best ideas I have read.

Make a list of what you need to do.

Cross out the things you really don’t have to do and can live without. (I stopped sending out Christmas Cards years ago).

Prioritize by using the following rule: What brings you closer to your goals?

Learn to delegate. Even if it is something as simple as having your child fold the towels. (Do they really have to be perfect?)

Keep all your notes and list in one notebook that you carry everywhere so that you aren’t always looking for thing.

Simplify, simplify, simplify. How many things do you really need?

Finally it is OK to say no to something. Just because you are asked dosen’t mean you have to commit.

I am still loving this whole 60′s vibe that I have blogged about before. It is very ladylike and feminine with a real put together look. Think Louis Vuitton:

Look at how polished and professhional this look is. Of course it is a little extreme for the office. But there are many ways to interpet this look. See some of my ideas below:

Sometimes you can do everything right and still not get the results you expected or wanted. It can be very depressing. Especially when it is something important. So what to do? Let’s look at the following steps.

First look at the situation and see if you can look at it from other angles or maybe get another opinion. There still might be something you can do to fix it.

If you cannot fix it than you have to look at your reaction to the situation. Sometimes the only thing you can control is your reaction.

Learn from it. What can you do better next time? How can you avoid being in the situation in the first place. If you take responsibility for results even when they are not your fault than you can grow from the event.

Things go wrong but it is our reaction to it that makes it worse or better. We can either dwell on the misstep or move forward to see the opportunity for growth and improvement.
